Martha Stoumen / FW22 Wine Club Newsletter

Martha Stoumen is a woman-owned natural winery based in Northern California that prides itself on a winemaking culture of patience. Each year, Martha sends out a tabloid-style newspaper with her carefully curated, artful wine club shipments.

This was a two-week design sprint with the goal of imbuing the Fall / Winter 2022 issue of the Martha Stoumen newsletter with the essence of patient, natural winemaking. As the solo designer on the project, this meant close collaboration with the Martha Stoumen Head of Marketing and Digital Content Manager.

Tinted newsprint and a riso print-inspired color treatment create an art-forward yet distinctly analog feel for club members and customers unboxing their new wines. By integrating elements like ripped paper collage, we soften the graphic elements and make the tabloid something you'd want to curl up by the fire and drink a glass of wine with.

Inside the newsletter, poetic copy and wine information were paired with activities, winery information, and graphics. Recipients and clients could use and reuse the tabloid after reading it, as decorative wrapping paper, collectible, and collage material.

The Martha Stoumen team wanted to encourage community, engagement, and self-reflection as the weather got colder and wine lovers transitioned into cooler, cozier weather.
